Nicholas joined Built Environment Consulting in 2018 and has worked on several varied and interesting projects during his career. A Graduate from the University of Nottingham, Nick has worked on projects requiring carefully controlled environments within food, beverage and pharmaceutical companies including Mars, Roberts Bakery, Unilever Marmite, Cadbury, 3M and Boots.
Starting his career at a specialist consultancy practice in the food and drinks sector, followed by a large multi-disciplinary construction practice to joining BEC, Nick has been the lead design engineer in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and public health engineering projects. Working with the emphasis on low energy sustainable design, building integrated renewable energy technologies and building environmental control systems. He is experienced in commercial, retail, education and healthcare sectors, as well as delivering projects which require BREEAM assessment.
Further experience includes working in controlled environments within historic and heritage buildings successfully coordinating works for the National Trust, The Crown Estate and Her Majesty the Queen and museums.
Nick is experienced in site-based work for surveys, condition reports and acting as employer’s agent during construction. He is well regarded by clients, fellow consultants, specialists and contractors. His ability to apply Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations ensures that projects are fully compliant with a clear focus on health and safety best practices.
Experienced in front end feasibility studies for renewable energy options through to detailed design drawings and specification for building services, carrying them through tender analysis, appointment and implementation and aftercare. Manager responsibilities include leading team meetings, client liaison, meeting deadlines, preparing budget cost presentations, developing and maintaining project programmes.
