Senior Level Electrical Engineer

The steady growth of Built Environment Consulting (BEC) means we are continuously recruiting for Senior Electrical Engineers.

BEC is an established, mid-size Building Services Consultancy based in the East Midlands, allowing us to serve the whole of the UK from a central location.

With experience of over 10 years, we have worked on several high-profile projects across a variety of sectors.

To ensure engineers are offered a varied project workload our typical project types include Education, Commercial, Retail, Residential, Leisure and Healthcare.

The company’s current need is for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer who has previously worked within a building services consultancy environment or a design environment within contractors, and who has a varied project portfolio experience.

The successful candidate will have experience of undertaking electrical design, producing 2D CAD drawings (experience with Revit and BIM would be advantageous) compiling reports, managing information streams, working with suppliers and contractors as well as attending client and contractor meetings.

Experience of calculation software such as Relux and/or Dialux and Amtech is essential.

We are looking for an engineer with the following skills set:

  • Completed a minimum of an HND qualification in relevant subject;
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Building Services Consultancy;
  • Good experience of electrical detail design and D&B;
  • Competent user of design software;
  • Competent user of AutoCAD/Revit;
  • Confident and outgoing personality, able to be client facing and build relationships with our valued client database;
  • Good organisational skills, able to manage projects, outputs, and work within deadlines;
  • Ability to work with, assist and manage junior/intermediate staff.

Graduate Mechanical and Electrical Engineer

The steady growth of Built Environment Consulting (BEC) means that we are continuously recruiting for Graduate Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.

BEC is an established, mid-size Building Services Consultancy based in the East Midlands, allowing us to serve the whole of the UK from a central location.

With experience of over 10 years, we have worked on several high-profile projects across a variety of sectors.

The expectation for a graduate level engineer is to be able to undertake the following items initially with assistance and training from senior staff, and also to show a good level of learning and progression to carry out the items over time with some degree of competency.

The role within the practice will include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Preparation of designs, calculations, specifications and tender documentation for mechanical and electrical services as part of a project team;
  • Carry out site visits for surveys, meetings and inspection of installation works;
  • Preparation of reports, meeting minutes and other related documentation;
  • The use of design software, including 2D AutoCAD, 3D Revit, TAS, Cymap, DIALux, RELUX, Amtech and other appropriate software;
  • Understanding of regulations and standards, and keeping up to date with future changes;
  • Gain product knowledge and ability to apply appropriate products to design solutions;
  • Understanding of thermal modelling SAP and SBEM;
  • Ability to manage input into thermal models and interpret outputs, working with our thermal modellers to engineer the best compliant solutions;
  • Work as part of internal and wider project design teams;
  • Co-ordination with other disciplines and specialists;
  • Work to BEC QA system and agreed methods of working;
  • Good organisational skills and able to work within deadlines;
  • Promote the company to the best ability at all times;
  • The company will provide CSCS basic training, which you must complete satisfactorily before attending any sites.
