Part new build and part conversion, the development consists of around 300 student units. The design centred around electric heating and hot water whilst maintaining a high level of energy efficiency with a very thermally efficient building.
The addition of photovoltaic (PV) cells on the roof further enhanced the efficiency and made steps towards Leicester City Council’s renewables targets.
The new build element of the site, which was a Fusion pre-fabricated structure, proved a challenge to design around but turned out to be an excellent efficient solution.
Duties: Full detail design, including site monitoring, SAP and EPCs.
