Sycamore House, Croydon

Client: Rooms and Studios / Shaylor Group 

BEC has been part of the team for two years designing apartment conversions to unoccupied office buildings in Croydon and London. To date, this has consisted of five sites with over 900 apartments. Heating and hot water systems have been based around the central boiler plant, serving heat exchange units in apartments. This allows for an energy efficient system with central billing linked to an off-site energy monitoring station.

Duties: Full detail design for the M&E contractor.

Weedon Apartments and Retail, Aylesbury

Client: Ashe Construction

New build 70 apartments over shell and core retail units. The project was a traditional build with relatively standard M&E services for an apartment development. Gas fired combi boilers serving radiators are provided in each flat, along with power derived from the main intake room at the rear of the retail units.

Duties: Full detail design, including thermal modelling.

Stonesby House, Leicester

Client: Rivers Trading Ltd

The project consisted of two parts. Refurbishment of a beautiful character property, with conversion into high-end apartments, along with a new build block to the same site. With the requirement to comply with Leicester City Council’s policy for renewable energy, a good proportion of the existing building has its heating and hot water generated by high-temperature air source heat pumps.

Duties: Full detail design, including SAP and EPC

Marlborough Street, Bristol

Client: Kailash Estates

New build 280 apartment scheme in the heart of Bristol. The design was based around a modular construction and would have been one of the largest modular builds in the UK at the time. Sadly the development was sold before getting constructed.

Duties: Full detail design, including SAP calculations and EPCs.

Kellogg Tower, London

Tudor Hill, Sutton Coldfield

Client: Stoneleigh Developments

Twelve new build, very high-end apartments in a leafy suburb of Sutton Coldfield. BEC provided M&E consultancy services from conception through to completion.

Each apartment was provided with full heat recovery ventilation system with comfort cooling, underfloor heating, home automation lighting control with scene setting and amazing B&O audiovisual systems were designed for the two top floor penthouse apartments.

Duties: Full detail design, including site cost advice, enhanced detailed performance design, detail design review, site supervision and commission witnessing.

Southbury House, Enfield
